Madeira Beach Eats
One thing everyone has in common while at the beach: we gotta eat! Below are some of our personal favorites and/or popular spots on the beach. I tend to prioritize food quality over ambiance, and usually dive restaurants have the best food. If you like these types of restaurants, feel free to give me a buzz or shoot me an email. I pretty much know all of the hidden gems on the beach. The money bag 💰 indicates how much you can expect to pay for a dinner for two with one drink each. Let us know your favorite spots. Madeira Beach has more quality restaurants per capita than any other beach town in Tampa Bay, and four of my top ten of all the beaches. Gulf Bistro. Gulf Bistro offers a wide variety of cuisine with French-inspired flare. It’s not quite Cafe Largo [my absolute favorite restaurant in Tampa Bay], but it’s really, really good. The service is awesome, and somehow, every time I visit, I end up in a conversation with another couple, then nearly the entire dining room ends up in the conversation – very friendly atmosphere. 💰 $75 📌Across from Archibald Park. Mario’s. I rarely order anything except the lobster ravioli. It’s sent directly from heaven. Fresh pasta in a neighborhood atmosphere [I assume this is what a little Italian restaurant would like like in Italy if it were in a strip mall]. Great service, but limited seating, so get here early. 💰 $50 📌Next door to the 711 across from Brown Boxer Thai Star Sushi Bar. This is my girlfriend’s favorite restaurant because of one dish: beef noodle soup. While I agree, the fresh ingredients are excellent, I’m not that big of a soupl fan to make it my favorite of all-time. But it is really, really good. Everything has HUGE portions and fresh ingredients. Dianne and her staff are super friendly – and fast. 💰 $35 📌Across from Archibald Park. Pirates Pub N Grub. Outstanding fresh food that seems to be better each time! One of the few places where nearly everything on the menu is excellent. Prime people watching spot directly on the John’s Pass boardwalk. 💰 $40 📌John’s Pass Boardwalk

When you’re on vacation, you want a place where you can get a good drink with a water view, take in some good people watching and fill your taste buds with excellent cuisine. If that sounds like your idea of a good time, then look no further than Pirates Pub N Grub on the boardwalk at John’s Pass. With outdoor seating for about 20 and air conditioned seating for about 30, the PPNG girls [typically decked out in traditional Pirate clothing] can take care of you no matter the weather. An outdoor bar attached to the front of the restaurant makes a perfect spot to enjoy the day on the boardwalk, while an indoor bar gives you the same view in the AC. Pirates Pub N Grub has a large selection of the best craft beers and is home to the Pirate’s Punch their signature mixed drink. Feel free to bring Fido too; they have a few dishes for your puppy and water bowls to keep your baby cool on those hot days. Pirates Pub N Grub rests on the boardwalk at John’s Pass, directly in front of the big Pirate Ship.
